So, was in Sydney a few weeks back and went and paid my Apple subscriptions at the Apple store by upgrading my trusty iPad 2 and iPhone 4S to an iPad Air and iPhone 5S.

Quite liked the look of the leather cases that Apple have released to grabbed a beige one.  Great feeling case looked OK seems to protect the phone well.  Wasn't keen on he colour, but the options were either too bright or too dark for my likening.

Anyway fast forward 24 hours and already the case was starting to show wear and tear with what appeared to be the beige colouring flaking off.  Three weeks later it looked to bad I scrubbed all the beige "coating" off and it took on a better (IMHO) more rugged look but still wasn't quite right.

Last night in a moment of boredom I grabbed the good old Kiwi shoe polish (brown) and polished it with that, the result I think is heaps better, it is now a middle brown with the appearance more of a good worn wallet which I prefer.

Time will tell how long this lasts...

I got the black leather one with my 5S, so far it's holding up well. Doesn't add a whole lot of bulk to the phone either.

Hmmm must be easier to make black than beige, that makes sense.

if you read the reviews on those case, everyone only recommends the black one as any lighter colour ones gets dirty/worn look very quickly

i myself got the product red and its still nice but its only a matter of time before it looks dirty and old

I'd expect so, apple is good like that. I went to get one and no stock, read reviews and not too good

I've ordered a zero chroma I think it's called that reviewed very well has a flush fitting stand. Hurry up I had to but a gel case until it arrives

Well I got a brown one; it was looking and feeling great, but only for the first three days!

Then it started to fade and turn dirty. Also the case is so tightly fitting the phone it is not that easy to take if off the phone.

I don't know why Apple bothered to get into the case business considering that there is heaps of choice among third party options.

I bought the Tech21 Impact Trio for my iPhone 5S because I like the idea of the D3O shock absorption material, although I'm not quite brave enough to test it!

I purchased the smart covers for the ipads as the screen is much larger and they are usually lying around the place to be damaged -- and the kids use them.

I don't buy screen protectors/covers for my phones any longer. The screens are fairly scratch resilient anyway and a cover hides the beauty and bulks up the phone.

I've got a smart Case for my iPad Mini and a leather iPhone case from Apple.

Both black and both doing very well.

the iphone case is a little older and has held up really well. Several weeks on and there's no flaking or obvious signs of wear but it does look more ... matte. It's got some nice natural patina on it due to oils etc from my hands and to be honest I like it.

I really didn't like any of the colour choices other than black or red, so stuck with the colour that would be least likely to offend over time.
