Hi Guys,

With the prices being the same at every store (that has 12 months interest free) any recommendations on what store to go to that might want to knock something off the price?

Looking at either the Macbook Air 13" 256Gb or the Macbook Pro 13" 256Gb

I sent a client to JB HiFi to buy a 27" iMac the other day because of their sharp pricing, though I see in this case they seem to be no cheaper.  Apple control selling prices tightly (as best I recall), so getting a decent discount on an Apple device is uncommon.

Just do your own homework about the deals and in particular look at the finance fees (setup and annual cost) and be very sure that you can pay it off within the interest free period.  Deals like '36 months to pay with the first 18 months interest free' can whack you with the 36 months of interest if you don't pay the deal off within the 18 month interest free period.  You might make a better saving paying attention to this sort of detail.

Playtech often have good deals on Mac's. Have you looked in the Apple store for refurbished Mac's?

There are no margins in Apple hardware so the prices are generally the same everywhere.
That's also why you usually see, when stores have interest free deals, that Apple products aren't included.
Sometimes they do include them but they'll make this obvious.

Apple set the RRP but you don't have to sell for that price, they can't force you as that is against the law.

As others have stated, your best bet is to shop around. I got my last Apple laptop (Macbook Pro) from JB Hifi. It had a RRP of $4299, but I got it for $3500, as it was getting close to a new refresh. That can be a particularly good time to buy, and in my case meant I could afford a much higher specced machine than I thought I'd be purchasing.

If you can wait, then JB and DSE do fairly regular 10% off Apple Computer (not iPad) sales.

I have no idea when the next refresh might be, but as mentioned above, this is also a great time to buy them as they get quite marked down then.
