Hi all

I was hoping for some advice

I was planning to line up with several friends for a midnight opening at a Christchurch Spark store in order to acquire a 128Gb iPhone 6 on a 24 month plan (probably the $99 a month plan). I was investigating what store would be open as I hadn't been able to find any information and then I read about Sparks "emoji queue".

Now 100/100 places are taken at the Christchurch spark store.

Is anyone able to confirm a couple of things for me:

1. If I line up and don't have an "emoji" does this mean the soonest place I can have in line is 100? i.e. even if I am first in line at whatever time, as the night progresses and everyone with an emoji turns up I would be back to 100?

2. Does Vodafone have any stores opening at midnight in Christchurch?

I am very disappointed that Spark has gone down this path. I didn't preorder as cant be available for a courier so this was going to be my best option. But I refuse to waste my time lining up if I am person 100 as I have my doubts that I would get the model I am after.

Instead if there is a Vodafone store open I will likely sign up on a Vodafone plan instead, despite having been a telecom customer for the length of time I have owned a cellphone!

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer :)

Frances

Looking at it objectively I know its completely illogical and ridiculous but I don't want to wait 2 weeks! Clearly I have the impulse control levels of a young child, but the heart wants what the heart wants. I guess I will just see how it all pans out. Last time I had to wait a few weeks I never got around to upgrading but my 4S wont make it through another year so thats an extra incentive.

PS last year nobody bought any in Dunedin - they had stacks of those things.

I'd suggest you buy a plane ticket and come here - the main street has all the shops so you can take your pick.

But that was the 5S though, I'm happy to get an emoji for you if you want (or you can call them?)

There were 5 Telecom stores in Chch (and I believe one in Rangiora?) that I'm aware of when I was down there earlier this year, I presume there's still 5 Spark stores.

Thanks for your input everyone. I've considered it all and it turns out I'm not prepared to spend a cent over RRP, which also rules out flights and petrol! I'm going to try at a store during my lunch friday, and if no luck then am resigned to waiting patiently until they are restocked :)

You are a victim of advertising and technolust.
Take a cold bath.
Wait 2 weeks and read the reviews.
Last time you (perhaps wisely) didn't bother to upgrade - doesn't that tell you something?
