Found this interesting article about an iPhone hacked to operate on Vodafone NZ...

First working iPhone in NZ!

John Ballinger from Bluespark.co.nz (with the help of his mate Shaun O’donnell) has hacked his iphone so that it works on the Vodafone New Zealand network. No AT&T!

Interesting...

Was this not posted on here a few weeks ago?

lduncan: Success! My iPhone is registered on VF's network with my existing VF SIM, and I can make and receive calls with it.

I'm happy :-)

I hate to rub it in, but it was also posted here, though the link does not seem to work anymore?

dannyb:

A friend of mine has unlocked his iPhone: http://twitter.com/sponno/statuses/236502212

It's the first in NZ, as far as i know.

He took delivery yesterday lunchtime, and had it on the network before bedtime.

Edited 31/08/07 09:07: I now know better. Apologies to lduncan and and others with unlocked iPhones.

I've seen claims of "first unlocked iPhone in New Zealand" from at least three different sources. I trust lduncan was the first one because he reported here on Geekzone at least two weeks before these other two showed up...

Seriously though...
