Disappointing news in the paper today, but not entirely unexpected....

http://www.stuff.co.nz/4215932a28.html

Paul (Brislen), is this a concrete "NO" or a "wait and see" "NO", or a 2G "NO", 3G version "Maybe..."  "NO"?

Hope you can throw us who would love an iPhone, (but don't want to hack one) a bone...

Cheers,

Alistair

Hi there,

Not sure what I meant to say came through too well in the story (probably my fault). We're keeping a watching brief on the iPhone. I'd like one so at the very least I'll be badgering the handset guys about it... not that they need badgering.

but Apple doesn't appear to be in any rush to launch the phone in too many markets and if you think back to the iTunes Music Store launch, we got it several years after the rest of the world.

So what I was trying to say is, we're watching and waiting but I wouldn't be holding my breath for it. And by the time it does launch here it had better have 3G and allow songs to be downloaded directly to the phone over the mobile network (as Vodafone's Music Store does) because otherwise, what's the point?

In the mean time fee free to check out New Zealand's number one music store, the Vodafone Music Store, and download your music directly to the phone and to the computer! (blatent commercial plug OFF)

Cheers

Paul

Thanks for the info Paul. Appreciate the quick response.

Fingers crossed then. Hope Vodafone worldwide gets excited about the inevitable 3G model. I saw that your uber boss was pretty keen....

Pfffft! @ the iPhone

When are we going to see some Windows Mobile 6 smartphone devices here in NZ?

At least Vodafone Australia has the HTC Touch and Motorola Q 9h, available NOW.

C'mon Vodafone NZ!  Be a market leader. Telecom NZ thinks 'new' means Windows Mobile 5.
