For those of you with access to iOS 8.3 betas, check out your Siri Settings.
You can now set your Siri language to "English, New Zealand". The Australian text-to-speech is still used for Siri's voice, however it appears the input has been optimised for New Zealand English.
As an officially supported country, Siri now looks for businesses here. It will respond to questions like "where is the nearest petrol station".
Will be interesting to play some more with this and see just how good Apple's data is.

Good to know. Hopefully "When does daylight saving end?" won't return a date in October anymore!

I found it worked better on English united Kingdom, rather then Australian..

Hopefully it'll get more words right once they've got New Zealand on it, and will be interesting to see how good it is with places.

rugrat: I found it worked better on English united Kingdom, rather then Australian.

I've left mine on UK (it's the default with iOS 8) and haven't had any major problems with the voice recognition.

I use Australian or American. But a pain when it says sorry I can't help you coz you're in New Zealand when I ask for directions or businesses

Hopefully, but it also needs a big overhaul apart from that. They need to purchase new satellite imagery from other providers (my neighborhood is black & white, with 100% cloud cover in parts).
Plus sort out basic places & locations. I wasted hours on a trip through Christchurch a year or so back trying to get to locations it was mis-placing. Very unsatisfactory product, that needs some investment.
