I have just purchased an iPhone 6+. I have given away my Galaxy S5. The last iPhone I owned was a 4 and things have improved so much since then. The 6+ IMHO is a very good device the camera is awesome.
The build quality is way superior to Samsung, no more clicky creaky hardware. IOS 8 is cleaner and less of jumble than Android and being free from Touchwiz is a blessing. I liken the usability, cleaners etc of IOS to that of Windows Phone.

As for the Thunderbolt plug a pleasure no more three times turn of the USB plug to get it in :)

As for the size, the device is a pleasure to use especially in the bright sunlight and actually being able to see the camera button in the sun a welcomed surprise, something that was invisible on the S5. The phone fits in my pocket and it's size actually makes it easier to get out of my pocket especially in the wheelchair.
The finger print scanner/unlock etc is the best I have used it is up there with that of the Huawei Ascend Mate 7, it takes a little time to set it up so it scans the entire finger print but the time spent is worth it.

Things that are on the downside for me...
The supplied power/data lead is too short
The new power adapter is hard to unplug one handed
The no back button taking a bit of time to get used to, I find myself trying to touch a non existent button.

All in all I would give the iPhone 6+ 9.5/10

I've had the 6plus since launch.
Bought it direct from Apple as it's a) cheaper in the long term b) SIM unlocked

I gave my old 5S to my wife and when I pick it up now it feels like a toy.

The thing that most people younger than me don't appreciate is that the 5.5" screen is readable by those who's eye sight is failing due to age.
I can't see the status bar on the 5S anymore without squinting hard at it (I'm 46).
I was struggling to read emails & messages on the 5S so much that I made use of iOS's accessibility in settings to increase the font sizes, that did help a lot.

It's beast to lug around but I do find myself using my iPad mini a lot less now and the camera is superb.
The HD slow mo and time-lapse are fun too.
Apps just seem so much better on that large and pixel packed screen, it really adds to the user experience I find.

Haven't managed to bend it either...

Did get a very nice case for it by "Spigen", which I bought on amazon in the US.
It has a metal retainer around it which probably helps a lot with keep the phone from getting warped accidentally.

Quality and reliability is by far my #1 priority and I'm prepared to pay for it. Whilst I've been pretty disappointed with my current Apple products I'm still not convinced that anything else out there meets my needs better, and I think your thoughts on the iPhone 6 support this.

I must say I have not had any complaints with my 6+ I have had it around 2 days after release.

I did get some moisture in my headphone jack at one point but blew it out and issue sorted.

I find it too big, but I now have got used to using it often two handed. The case I got was from 1 Day, a black folio, useful as it can sit in landscape

One of the guys on a course I was at last week had a 6+  with no case.  Was way too slippery for my liking.  Maybe OK with a case..

Definitely needs a case

Looks like iPhone prices have increased after today's Spring Forward event. The 128GB iPhone 6 Plus have gone up from $1449 to $1599, $150 dearer.

Kiwi$ isn't as valuable as it was last year.

I use the 6 plus daily. I'm finding the size to be fine when its 'naked', but even putting a slim case on it makes it feel too big.
Otherwise I don't notice the large size much, i.e its so slim it fits nicely in pockets etc.

I'm 6"2 with long fingers, and think this shows that for me its right at the limit in size of whats usable.

Slightly off-topic sorry :)

Can I ask where did you buy the iPhone from? I am soon traveling to Australia and was planning to buy it from there but I noticed today they have increased their 64GB iPhone 6 prices by 149 dollars overnight on the apple website. It was 999 yesterday and 1149 today.

Assuming they have done this to reflect the dollar value for AUD, I am now thinking is it better for me to buy it locally here instead.

I am planning to get the iPhone 6 Gold 64GB for my wife.
