Hi all

I'm looking at picking up an Apple TV. I was just trying out Airplaying Lightbox from my phone to the TV and it wasn't working well (stopping/pixelated). The guys at Noel Leeming suggested it was their wifi network and it should work fine and the picture should be good.

I tried another store and they didn't have one set up....

Anyway, I just wanted to check other people's experience with AirPlay. I presume it should just work and appear as if you're watching TV rather than something that's pixelated etc.

Can you guys confirm?

Thanks very much.

With the latest Lightbox client for the iPad works fine - looks easily the equivalent of HD on Sky - not BluRay quality, but close enough.

(I use a 5GHz 'n' network with a strong signal, so YMMV depending on what quality of WiFi you have available )

Having said that, all the rumours are for a new AppleTV box to be released very soon (June/July), so you may wish to hold off for a month or so.

AirPlay works great, but hold off. If the new ATV announced at WWDC in June has an App Store, as I hope, and as it runs iOS it could well be the only STB you need as when streaming apps come out, iOS is first off the block. Crossing fingers and toes, fingers and toes

Thanks for the responses. I know about the likely upcoming new device. I wanted one now and I did read somewhere the price of the new one is likely to be more. This works fine for my purposes. Having Freeview plus on it when it comes out would be the only thing I would likely need to upgrade for as I want to get rid of sky.

Anyway, I bought the device today and it works great so thanks again for the replies.
