Hello iExperts,

My iPad 3 Retina wants to install iOS 8.4.

I've got zero interest in Apple Music, but I usually install each iOS update in case there are any security issues being addressed. But the iOS 7.whatever to iOS 8 "upgrade" slowed my iPad down by an order of magnitude, and nothing I've found on online forums has made much difference.

Has anyone out there installed iOS 8.4 yet, and did you find any effect on performance? I'm not expecting anything to help my senile tablet; I just don't want to make it any worse.

TIA.

It's working ok on my ipad 3. Although streaming Apple Music is awful. It just won't stream although I have the same issue on my iPhone 5s.

PSA: Apple Music in iOS8.4 removes the HomeSharing feature for audio. Having said that, I am giving Apple Music 3 months trial to see if its Family Share and library is worth switching from 2 Spotify Premiums over etc.

Got it installed on my ipad3, no additional issues other than the same slowness which has been their since IOS8.0
Rumour is that IOS9 will actually improve performance, so that will be good.

Ta for all the opinions.  I took the plunge today, and the iPad III doesn't seem any worse for it.  Looking forward to iOS 9, if it'll undo the sluggishness that iOS 8 brought.

my opinion is DON'T upgrade to 8.4.

I did on my phone and iTunes is really awful to navigate now.

I won't be upgrading my Ipad.

If you are not using iTunes Music subscription, turn this option off under settings>music. That removes a lot of the clutter. New music player has lots more options and features than the old one, being able to create a playlist on the fly is fab!

They have removed one of my favourite features from music, if you were playing a song you could hit a button in the top right and it took you in to view that album. I used it all the time to shuffle through my music, find something I was in the mood for and then listen to that particular album.
