My near-new phone has developed an annoying quirk: the home screen shows two clock times, one superimposed over the other. Has anyone else seen this? More important for me, can anyone suggest a remedy? The only thing I've tried is a restart.

Sorry, the lock screen, not the Home.

Hmmm... odd. Maybe you managed to take a screen shot of the lock screen & then apply that as your lock screen wallpaper? Otherwise all I can suggest is a full restart - either hold the sleep wake button & swipe when asked to turn off, wait until complete shutdown, then press sleep/wake button to turn on again.... or press & hold both the home button & the sleep/wake button for about 8 seconds until the Apple logo shows (this is a forced reboot I think).

Cheers,
Mike

Could be worth doing a backup and restore, that seems to help with some things. Their online chat is OK for support

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I have fixed it, though I still don't understand what happened! I tried a hard reboot but that didn't work, then I fixed it by simply changing the lock screen wallpaper.

I suspect that you managed to accidentally set a screenshot as your wallpaper :)

No,I don't think so. A screenshot would be static. In the situation I described, *both* clocks (and dates, come to that) changed over time, as if a clock from one time zone was superimposed over a clock from another--except that the two times were three or four days apart.

Perhaps someone was playing a very cruel prank on you with the screenshot thing mentioned above? :P

They probably kept you on your toes by changing it every few days haha
