Hi.

So a customers PA has called me to say they are having issues with her bosses Iphone 6S, where not all the music is showing up in the browse part of the music player.

They can see music s-z but they can't select any of the songs from A-R, it's like they are greyed out. iTunes says the device has the same number of songs on the ipod, and they can SEARCH for say ABBA and it will show and play the songs, but the browse doesn't seem to want to work a-r.

I can't see the device myself as the guy is away right now. He isn't the sort it's easy to talk through things like taking screenshots or photos to email me.

Any ideas?

Music libraries (especially big ones) have been screwed up on iOS since at least iOS 6, from my own personal experience. Badly enough that I suspect they actually went to some effort to make it that way. I have - I kid you not - been playing an album on my iPad, and before my very eyes, watched it split two random songs off and call them a different album by a different artist with an unrelated picture for cover art. While I watched, as it played the album.

Delete Music and resync. Settings>General>Storage & iCloud Usage>Manage Storage>Music>All Songs - swipe right to left.

There appears to be an iTunes issue that has been affecting me this morning and my purchased music is greyed. Any I have copied from CD are fine....

All his music is CD copied, only the U2 album is "purchased" also it's been going on for a fortnight for him.

So this was happening on his old phone too, or does he actually have a 6 and not a 6s?

I think you need to get some more detail from the customer. I'm not sure how you can have a fault for 2 weeks for a device that hasn't been on the market for 2 weeks. I'm not even sure if you can buy a 6S in store yet??

it's probably a 6+, not a 6S  (people are shocking with model numbers)

Just tell them to get spotify and be done with it.  No need to have a music library taking up room on the phone when you can just stream whatever you want whenever you want.

They don't want that, they want what should be working, working.

Perhaps you need to be an A&R Man to see A-R.

.... except for when there's no wifi or data available - eg on a plane? Or if there's no wifi and you don't want to spend data on streaming for some reason. I keep a heap of music on my iPad and Android phone for emergencies/unusual situations - but admittedly hardly ever use it because streaming.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
