For those purchasing a 6S or 6S Plus, what are you upgrading from?

For those who are upgrading from a 6 or 6 Plus, why are you upgrading? This is a serious question, as I have a 6 and personally don't see enough improvements to warrant an upgrade - am i missing something?

My reason for upgrading from the 64GB 6 Plus to the 64GB 6S Plus is simple, I purchased it outright at launch for $1,299 - with the price hikes Apple introduced in NZ several months ago, even now with their recent 6S-announcement-related price drops the cost to buy one brand new today is $1,399. I was able to sell it for $1,199.

I had the phone for a year and it only depreciated by $100 and I'm paying $400 for the upgrade - which through an incentive scheme at work this month I've earned an extra $300 for doing nothing more than I normally do, so I'm choosing to think of it as only paying $100 to upgrade.

Had I waited another year or more to upgrade, the situation would be different as it's definitely a unique situation this year because of the earlier price increases. I can still upgrade to the 7S/8 or whatever at the same point I would've if I still had my 6 Plus, but now I'll have a device that will be one year newer, and therefore worth more, at the point of upgrade.

I have a 5s...I'll wait for the 7.  I seem to wait about 3 version if my 4 to 5s past record is anything to go by.

I'm upgrading from a 5. I wasn't planning to - I was going to hang on for another year - but I got made redundant out of the blue a couple of weeks ago (after 27 years at the same company) and have decided to set up my own business. I want a different phone for business and personal stuff, so I'm keeping the 5 for business and the 6S for personal. Plus, I've noticed my 5 has developed quite a yellow halo around the edges of the screen when viewing on a white background. I upgraded to my 5 from a 3GS so I'm a 3-year kind of person.

I'd assume the main reason to upgrade from a 6 would be if you were particularly after a better camera / 4k video, or if you were on one of those "get a new model every year" plans.

Getting a 6s plus 64gb from a Note 4. Dont need to upgrade at all. The Note 4 has all the features and things that I want. But I am going to the Apple ecosystem for more stable apps, less hangs (hopefully), more battery life (some apps just kill the battery like crazy on android) and overall a cleaner experience. I wasnt too happy with the Samsung update cycle (phone is still at 5.0.1).

Getting a 6S, coming from a 6+ which has proven too big for the pockets of most of the pants/jeans I wear. I love the big screen for video content and web browsing but it's getting annoying having to carry it with me like a purse.

from 6+ to 6S+ going from 64GB to 128GB.

Keeping on the treadmill really.

Camera and force touch mainly.

And I will likely upgrade to 7 next year (read definitely)

So to not answer your question but still somewhat stay on topic:

I am tempted to upgrade. Would be from a 6+ to a 6S+ if it were to happen. As it is I am very happy with the 6+ so for the first time since the first iPhone I don't think I will upgrade this time around. Will be waiting for the iPhone 7 next year.

That said, reading this really do tempt me.

Image stabilisation on video, 4K video, 12 Megapixel sensor are all very tempting, since the iPhone is my primary camera these days. Also nice is the new force touch and a quicker Touch ID.

So yeah, so far staying with my decision to not upgrade, but will see how well that plays out..

Just do it! Sell the 6+ while the getting is good!

I am hoping my 6+ 64GB with 1 year Apple Care is worth $8-$900 via Trademe (or here)
