Hello,
The story goes like this:
Tuesday gone dropped the phone off at the repair place due to the screen lifting and separating from what's below it. Went back the next day to be shown the reason that the screen was lifting - a bulging ready to blow battery. So a new battery as well as a screen replacement.

Back the next day to pick up the phone, got it home to find it wont charge at all. Take it back the next day to be repaired again, phone call later on to say it was on its way to the nearest Apple repair place. Turned out to a blown charging port. Got the phone back to me yesterday all good to go with all new parts.

Turn the phone on, all good but notice that the battery needs to be charged. Hello, no matter what cable or charger i use the phone will not charge. Plus i couldn't get the home screen back up. The screen then showed the cable pointing to the iTunes symbol so i hook it up to the laptop and nothing happened with or without iTunes on. Tried the home button/on switch press to reset and got the Apple symbol etc. From there nothing happened.

Now try turning it on all i get is the low battery and a cable pointing to it. Plug it into a charger (tried several plus different cables) and it recognises that it is plugged in due to the cable on screen going away but the battery doesn't charge. Remove the cable and the screen shows the cable again. Tried this numerous times plus trying the reset combo - nothing but the low battery on screen.

Sorry for the long-winded post, bloody frustrating. Not overly keen on taking it back for a third time but i suppose if i have to i have to. Other option was taking it to a reputable Apple approved repair person.

Does anyone have any ideas please?

How long are you waiting each time you plug it in? Typically it takes 5-10 minutes to show anything once you've plugged it in, at which point it should boot automatically.

Yesterday after getting it back and trying to get it going ended up leaving it plugged in overnight. This is using the same charger and cable that i charge my ipad mini 2 with. Today i had it sit with no power for couple hours thinking it had to completely drain, plugged it in and couple hours later still nothing but the low battery on screen.

It really does sound like your U2 ic is the issue - this is a difficult repair.

You could take it to an approved Apple service agent but in a small twist of irony they are actually not allowed (by Apple) to repair your phone - they can however offer you an out of warranty replacement for around $450.

Maybe take it back and see if they can try another battery as a least resort.

Edit: fix damn auto correct

Unfortunately if you have had the repairs done by just some random repair place, and not an Apple authorised service provider, then you'll now have 3rd party parts in your device.
Once that happens Apple won't help you at all. Any requests to them for service, repair, whole unit replacement, will be declined.
Unless you can put all of the original parts back in then no point going to an AASP.
Anyway you shouldn't need to, the repair shop you've already used and paid to get your device working should be sorting it out.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Danm. I'm also thinking its cost me $240 so far, extra repairs cost me nothing, if there was another $450 on top of that I'm probably better off looking at another phone. Might try my chances taking it back to the shop.

Wasn't keen on taking it back but at the end of the day, as a result of the initial repair, the phone is still not working the same as when we took it in. Surely I'm entitled to do that.

What place actually repaired the handset? Many phone repair agents are popping up around the place and they use fake iPhone bits to repair these handsets

The repairs are covered under the consumer guarantees act.

If the repair centre has done damage they can not fix, then they can be liable for the replacement of the iPhone, repair of the iPhone with another service centre.

The iPhone SHOULD have been tested when fully assembled to ensure it started, charged, worked. Failure to do so is poor workmanship.

Took the phone back this morning, now being sent away again to the 'Apple' service centre.
Yes you would think they would fully test the phone before giving it back, that really surprises me.
