Hi all, after a recent OS reinstall, I don't want to put iTunes back onto my PC, as there are no longer any iPhones in our house.  We do have an iPod Shuffle we load songs onto for long car trips, so is there any way to get music onto this without needing iTunes?  Searching has resulted in lots of different programs that promise to do it, but I'd rather use something others have tested, before running some random .exe on my PC.

For a few years now I have been using Media Monkey. It specialises in organising music libraries and also being able to transfer music to and from different portable media players. I use it for the music on my iPod touch.
Swear by it.

Sharepod is another good one. And one old classic app that I used to use Senuti.

+1 for SharePod; although I haven't used it for a couple of years myself.
