Hey guys, first time posting here but great forum... After an arduous google journey last night I managed to finally get my phone from 1.0.2 to 1.1.3 fully functioning with wifi, Vodafone NZ, Youtube etc STOKED!

However, I am still getting an error that may be hardware related. Almost every time I unlock my phone or unplug from the dock i get the message "This Accessory is not made to work with iPhone" when nothing is plugged in at all. This started when I was in Canada and accidentally left my iPhone on a pile of snow that melted overnight. I left to dry in front of the fire for two days and EVERYTHING works perfectly except I get this error periodically (once every 5-10mins during regular use).

Everything points to this being a hardware problem where maybe two circuits in the dock connector have been shorted... does this sound right? However, because this is obviously a jailbroken NZ operating iPhone no chance of warranty or whatever. It is quite inconvenient because it interrupts music and applications sometimes.

What do you guys reccommend is there a good, cheap iPhone repairer in Auckland area that might be able to help? Or is there a softfix that removes this message (ideal).

Thanks for your help, you guys are champs!

Unfortunately there is no soft fix at this stage (not that I know of anyway) and to me it does sound like it is a hardware issue. As for getting it fixed I am in ChCh so I'm not too familiar with AucklandWinkhowever, whatever you do, don't send anyone money online where they tell you to send them the iPhone (others have done this and found themselves out of pocket). At the end of the day if you are unable to go in somewhere and get it fixed you may have to either stick with it as it is or bite the bullet and try to sell it on line, then get yourself a new one.

Anyone else can help on this? It's getting worse! Can't even listen through a song on the way to work without it cutting out. Would love to know if there is a soft fix out there or someone who could engineer it?

Have you tried restoring to 1.1.3 via iTunes and then using ZiPhone to re-jailbreak, activate and unlock?

If not give that a go. and see if it still happens.

I've had this problem since 1.0.2 and have done tons of restores of different firmware since then... only cure i can see is a soft fix (doesn't exist) or hard work on it

Well because this problem came on quite suddenly I assumed that it had nothing to do with the USB port. Well anyway, I spent about 20 minutes meticulously cleaning out the gunk with a crushed q-tip/earbud thing and a needle and guess what? The error message has all but disappeared!

Half an hour ferry to work this morning didn't cut out once! Very stoked... message still comes up occasionally but yeah much better now TG

Hi, how are you?

I have exactly the same problem as you. I put my iphone in my bosse dock station while it was partially wet; with the consequences that you know. I don’t think that I could use the warranty because even if we restore the iphone to the original status, we don’t have a contract with ATT or a valid sim card to show. Even worst….probably the “humidity sensor” will tell Apple that I expose the iphone to unusual  conditions.

So I was sitting and waiting to someone develop an application that stop the annoying message, when I read your post.

Can you explain me how you fixed?

Good LuckAdrian

Unfortunately since I last posed in this thread the error came back with a vengeance. It is likely the error is caused by a shorted circuit in the dock connector. I have sourced a replacement dock connector and a company that will do the replacement.
