I am looking at an apple tv4 unit from the states off eBay. Nz price is $299 for a 32gb unit. Ebay US is closer to $200 including freight. Will the US or ovetseas model work in Nz. Has anyone else gone down this road?

The ones I have seen on ebay is around 245 NZD including freight. You will have to get yourself a plug adapter too, and by then you are pretty close to the $299 it retails for here.

I think I would have spent the extra $50 to buy it in NZ - that way you have CGA cover on it, when buying it from the states (and especially through ebay) I think you can forget about any warranty claims.

You're only saving a few dollars - buy from NZ, get the CGA and a full warranty and be done with it. It isn't worth it.

that's still approx. $260 NZ dollars plus freight. So not really saving much. Need to look is saving approx. $40 worth it when you lose cga protection. If it went faulty you would most likely need to send it back at your cost.

I didn't specifically go down the ebay path, but can confirm that the US versions do indeed work find in NZ.

Nope - it's 100-240v - so just used a NZ "figure 8" cable (which you get locally for a few bucks).

I would always recommend using a proper mains cable rather than a dodgey adaptor, if you can.
