Be careful where you place your iPhone. I slipped mine into a pocket in my backpack this morning along with an iPad, Macbook Pro and my lunch in a plastic container. Seems that my phone got squeezed in the process of zipping it up resulting in hairline cracks down the length of the screen.

No apple care so $600 for a replacement phone, ouch!

Wow that's terrible. Feel for you.

Can you take a photo to show us how bad the hairline scratches look?

Apple can do screen replacements on the iPhones but you have to mail it in to them.

$254 for the iPhone 7 Plus.

Can't be without a phone as I use it for work :-(

Have emailed support again for clarification as IMO the amount of pressure applied should not have resulted in a failure and I see online some users have had free replacement with 6S plus' in the past with a similar issue.

These phones are all fairly vulnerable I think. We had the bending ones when the 6 Plus was launched, of course.

I've seen videos of drop tests on the glass-backed Samsungs and not only can you crack the screen, you can crack the back as well - and of course the minute you do that, the water resistance is toast.

A titanium body and sapphire crystal screen would be my choice, with potted electronics.

I cannot recommend highly enough getting a glass screen protector, I have had them on my 6S+ since new and it has saved the screen a couple of times now.

Joker, it is a bit of a stretch to say the glass is inferior due to one reported incident, where as far as we know there was a bit of pressure on one point causing the breakage.

OP for the sake of $300 could you not get an iPhone 4 for bugger all and use this while your phone is being repaired?

In fact I have one in my draw with a sticky home button I can loan you for the cost of postage!!!

Pocket on the side of the backpack? That seems like a risky place especially when you put down your bag or when you get bumped while you have the backpack on you.
