Iphone 6 running ios 10.0.2

presume 1 of the recent updates upset my saved favourite contacts as

numbers got changed so began ringing home number not mobile

Deleted the 2 favourites that have changed

but when re adding it puts a grey star next to 2 numbers not just the one wanted

Have been searching online but cant find a solution or anyone with the same issue

Any help or suggestions greatly received

What does the contact look like in the account you're (hopefully) syncing your contacts to?

When you look at the contact in your iCloud (you can do this on iCloud.com) does the contact appear as per your screenshot with three numbers?

So favourites appear in your phone app from where you can edit and sort them in bulk. You should be able to remove home as a favourite if desired or push it further down the ranking.

Also from within each contact you could have multiple home or mobile numbers and the add to favourites function brings up a menu to set the default for each by tapping on the drop down, if there's multiple numbers or email addresses. Tapping any of those forms of contact would add it to favourites

Thanks for the help went in to delete the contact and readd it turned out it was linked with a contact in gmail as well as icloud and that was causing 2 numbers to be favourited
