I've just run into this 'regression' since upgrading on my iPhone. This will be a show stopper for those relying on PPTP and needing to access corporate LANs via VPN while tethered. I need PPTP VPN access for network management purposes.

They aren't going to re-add an unsecure VPN method. Suggest you look at upgrading your VPN.

No an option for me. It's what the company provides as a gateway and in any case there's further security behind it as we access https, ssh, and secured portal services behind it, all of which have their own authentication/encryption.
