When a friend looked into it on their iphone, couldnt do that. I have an app on my android to reject them automatically so perhaps see if that is available on iphone?

Telco's dont seem to be interested in allowing for unknown to be blocked, infact they are some of the worst offenders at calling from blocked numbers and SMSing from made up stuff.

With IOS 10 CallKit has been put in that does allow the blocking of numbers....but I still don't think you can block unknown number (ie no caller id)

Blocking "unknown" caller will block legitimate callers, many organisations have caller ID turned off for privacy reasons. Two high profile organisations I worked for did this. Many medical related organisations will have caller ID off.

Where you at?

Anything relying on social media to fill in the gaps probably needs abig population to work well.

Anyway " A hidden number can also be known as a 'private number' - or any call that rings through, but does not show the number. Hidden numbers cannot be identified by Truecaller, unfortunately."

It seems that too many calllers here go private rather than deliver the main number just because they don't want the DDI number called back. I get calls from Govt Departments, my Dr., dentist and the hospital all "Private". Screening after hours might be possible but not during the day.

Truecaller works well to stop spam calls for me in the US. I guess it's the network effects of having lots use it.

Then they can find some other way to get in touch with me.

Just because someone has my phone number doesn't give them the automatic right to be able to get in touch with me. Caller ID is one more tool to choose if to accept a call and by not providing it the decision is easy to not accept it.

Did you mean "Private number" by saying "unknown number"? If that's the case, then you can use third party software to block them. If you mean just the number that's not known to you then you can block them with iPhone's default feature. You can find it in settings.

Good luck

what 'privacy reason'? Many high profile organisations cite 'privacy reasons' for doing all kinds of stupid things.

I use a psychometric technique for blocking such calls. After years of disciplined training I am now able to perform the following action subconsciously... I ignore such calls.

Many people do not want certain organisations popping up on the screens when being called by them.
