I manage a website which uses Responsive menus so that anything other than full screen shows the hamburger menu.

One person using a Mac of some sort claims that they never get anything but the hamburger menu and do not see the full screen menu. Not having access to a mac I wonder if anyone can help me. Is there something about a Mac browser that forces the hamburger menu instead of the full screen menu?

Any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks

They probably have the zoom in their browser pushed up to 150-200%

Expected a thread about McDonald's.

Can you provide a link to the site?

Edit: Just looked up what a "hamburger menu" is. I learned that one as "air vent" and don't see the resemblance to a hamburger - where's the curved top?

Edit 2: It's not just me!

Someone from Xerox: We used to tell potential users that the image was an "air vent" to keep the window cool. It usually got a chuckle, and made the mark much more memorable.

I get the fullscreen menu when using a large window, and the collapsed menu once I shrink it to 960 pixels wide. Safari 10.0.1.

For what it's worth, I typically browse at around 1100 pixels wide, but I could imagine some people going smaller (especially on a lower-resolution machine).

Thanks that makes sense. I could alter the responsive down a little but have explained to the person and they may be happy once they understand about Hamburger menus

Don't see anything obvious that should cause that. Like mattwnz said, they are probably using zoom.

If you want - check with the Mac person which browser and browser version they have, and I should be able to do a test for you with that.

Might want to send them here for a test: http://whatismyresolution.com/

Just note that that important information is near the bottom of the page. The big bold heading text shows the maximum possible screen resolution rather than the size of the browser window!

Or maybe a really old mac running at 1024 width or something?

(Looks like you also have a bit of a "hole" in your media rules - at 1055 and 1056px I get no styling :P )

The other thing apart from zoom, is they maybe using safari or an old version of safari that doesn't work well with newer website code. But as far as I can see, it isn't a web design issue. Zoom will definitely do it though, as well as a low screen resolution.
