Well i thought this day would never come... i thought that hell would freeze over and the world would stop turning.

I have a samsung note 5 and samsung tab S2 (9.7" screen with styles).

So my question is: what should i end up getting?

Iphone 7? (what size?, yes i like photos)

Ipad.... can i get one with a styles that pops out like the samsung ones? cant seem to find one.

Whats good and whats bad... ok so reword that! anything i should avoid?

*** Last time I used a Iphone was a 4S***

Generally - iPad is quite good in the realm of tablets. I have used an iPad Air 2 - i would get that one. In terms of stylus, if you use it a lot, then go for the iPad Pro. It doesnt have the popout stylus though.

iPhone 7 - I would avoid. I dont know about you, but the lack of headphone jack is a deal breaker for me. I use the headphone jack on a daily basis. I have a different set of headphones in the car, at work and at home. And I dont wish to lead the #donglelife (also avoiding the macbook pros this year)

Son is currently upgrading his phone and while I would normally recommend the latest model of anything the lack of a headphone jack on the iPhone 7 is a deal breaker for him so it's the 6S. I guess it depends on what you want in a phone and what features you think are critical, nice to have, and can live without.

iPad is the standard issue across our business now. No stylus fitted but plenty of accessory ones available

I use an ipad air 9.7" with gsm/lte with a microsoft universal keyboard and an apple pencil (limited use only) with microsoft office 365 for light/mobile stuff. IOS is not really design for pen input from my perspective.

Also use a normal iphone 7 also with ms office for checking email and viewing documents. Did not see the point in the bigger screen as can use the ipad, or the camera on the bigger model.

Also I use a surface pro with windows 10 when I need to do heavy office work or using the stylus for taking notes in onenote and design work or coding.

I've got a 9.7" iPad Pro and it's fantastic. The screen is incredible. I just got reading glasses and can't believe how clear it is, lol. You'll need to get the Apple Pencil as it doesn't come with a stylus. You can use a normal stylus on it, but the Pencil has a whole bunch of extra functionality if you want to draw or whatever. I also have an iPhone 6S and love it, but if you want some of the extra low-light features in the iPhone 7 camera, you may want to consider that. I have 128GB models for both which is plenty. I'm nowhere near my storage limit on either, and I've got over 1400 photos on my phone, plus dozens of apps.

I can recommend iPhone 7 - it isn't a big deal, to be honest, let's not over dramatise the non-issue here. Personally, I have iPhone 7 Plus, and the 10.2 brought Portrait mode to make use dual-cameras and it's working great despite still being a beta feature.

I have not needed the Lightning-to-headphone dongle until today which luckily I have it with me, in all other cases, I have been using BlueTooth but that's something that I have been using for last few years. My BlueTooth headphones have 3.5mm cable connection for when if I want to use wired connectivity, so find yourself a good pair of headphones with this.

It's not a big deal if it suites your use case. Audio quality via BT is pretty average on an iPhone (No aptX), so a cable connection is essential IMO.

I don't see the headphone jack thing a big deal, You can use bluetooth or the included EarPods or the included adapter.

The question here is do you want a phone or a tablet?

Yes I was worried I would miss this so setup a Google alert on the AirPods which came through as soon as it was mentioned online.

The problem is that they are so expensive for what they are, considering they sound is no better than the free ones they 'give away' with the phone. If they were up to the sound quality of their premium apple earbuds which they normally sell for over $100, then they maybe worth it. But I guess they would be good for using with an apple watch, so you don't need your iphone with you. But if you have your iphone with you, you may as well just plugin headphones. I never have a problem with wires, and infact the wires stop them falling o the ground when they fall out of my ear. I would be scared of these ones falling out and hitting the ground, as the shape of the current wired ones fall out all the time.

I think the iphone 7 is a great device, and the big plus is that it is water resistant, and probably the most powerful phone on the market, as it is tuned for the OS. I have also found apple devices very reliable compared to other brands. The lack of a headphone jack is annoying, especially if you listen to music while charging. But most of apples new devices now seem to need multiple dongles for some things.

The airpods are not compulsory to buy!!!

Apple ones look to be good value compared to some other wireless ones about.
