Hi

Just got a brand new iPhone SE 128gb, and the power button rattles. The rattling noise is actually picked up by the mic when

recording video... making it useless

Has anybody else had the same problem and did you manage to resolve it?

Im hoping not to have to play the apple lottery...

iPhone 5S peasant chiming in.

They all do it, Mine does, My mates ones, My sisters old one. Shocking device....

Picked up on it from snapchat and you get a lot of play in the button when using it, Also on the iPhone 5 it was common to see the button start to rotate around (Cause it had the little square on it) and have lateral play.

Solution is to put it in a case. But I have one and haven't noticed any problem even when out of the case

I remember reading about the rattle prior to purchasing, and now I have two units here and they both rattle. It seems like this is a very old issue, and from what I've read non-rattling phones are the exception. It's a design flaw rather than a per-unit defect. If you have no other issues with the phone, do not replace it. Rather, try to mitigate it with a case as suggested above. There are bigger lotteries to lose with this phone.

Speaking of lotteries, I don't think I'll be buying any more Apple products. The well known A9 Samsung/TSMC lottery (which I lost on both units) and the iphone 7 Intel/Qualcomm lotteries were turning me off Apple to begin with, but now I've also experienced:

Iphone SE screen lottery: Apparently there is an iPhone SE screen lottery, because my two units have completely different screens. The second one I bought has inferior blacks, warmer colors overall, and some kind of pseudo-interlacing dither effect ("pixel inversion"?).

Home button lottery: The home buttons also sound/feel different. The first unit has an obnoxiously loud click, while the second is more muted. The ipad Air 2 I have has yet another home button feel. All three devices were manufactured within the same year.

Found other reports of those two lotteries online. I thought Apple was supposed to be all about quality and consistency.

EDIT: OP, can you do me a favor? Download this image image to the phone and view 1:1/full screen with the brightness at max: https://forums.macrumors.com/proxy.php?image=http%3A%2F%2Fuploads.tapatalk-cdn.com%2F20160409%2F8c594237415506ade3ef214cff1a64f5.jpg&hash=b263994a24b48fd0f4f5d14861e76d69

See any flicker?

I checked and mine was the Samsung chip.

That image didn't open for me but I think the one I googled was probably the
same one. (Looked like straight grey lines). Anyway. Yes my SE screen did flicker

Was that there from the start?

The SE has known yellow display tint issues (another reason why I urge OP not to try exchanging the phone if the rattly button is the only issue it has). Luckily neither of my units have that.

Eh, iPhone 7 doesn't have lottery for the qualcomm/intel. If you buy a specific model eg. A1660 you will get qualcomm.

Funny to see that people complains about the loudness of the home button. Guess it's good that there's no more physical 'click' in the newer ones.
