Wow, I'm glad I stumbled into this before clicking on the next iPhone update to iOS 11 due in the next few days.

It seems that 32-bit apps won't work in the new version. I have a number of apps I use regularly which haven't been updated to 64-bit due to the developer being taken over, and I'll lose access them if I update to iOS 11. In fact, I'm not even sure I'll be able to reinstall them if I lose them or have to reset my phone.

Just posting this so others are aware - check for 32-bit apps by going to Settings --> General --> About --> Applications which will list the 32-bit apps if you have any installed.

This has been know about for a long time. But I thought there was some warning prior to updating that will tell you which apps won’t work. I only had a few apps that didn’t including some banking ones. People don’t need to update though, although ios11 has some great features, especially on the iPad, and I have been using it since beta 2. I don’t know why some of the iPad features haven’t been copied to the iPhone such as the new dock and the swipe up to access the dock from in an app.

Developers have had since December 2014 to include 64bit support in their apps...

Only app I've got that won't work with the update is the Vodafone TV app, have asked them on twitter and only really got a "we're looking at it" reply

Some of my paid for older games may not work, so I'll hold off iphone6 for now.

I'll update Apple TV, and hope I can still air play TVNZ, but guess if banking applics stop on phone, I might be forced to.

As of iTunes 12.7 a few days ago iTunes does not have anything to do with apps. No App Store, not local apps.

I have 6 apps that show won't work.  Nothing I can't live without or that don't have alternatives.

Yes also discovered that iTunes no longer manages apps and is now focused towards music and on-line content.  Not quite sure how I will now manage app content such as VLC which you could load files to directly using iTunes.  I am sure there is a way and will cross that bridge when I come to it.

The price of progress...

@scuwp you can still manage files that are used by apps, so you should be OK - you can drag and drop them in and out still.

That sucks. iTunes used to save apps locally as I have a lot backed up. I wonder if using old versions of iTunes will do it , but I guess that will only work with older devices using older versions of iOS. Can’t stand the newer dumbed down iTunes software.

Interesting.

on my phone:

Apple Remote

Stopwatch

SimpleResize (photo resizer, quite handy)

BookMyShow (going to NZ movie theatres)

VodafoneTV (no surprises there)

Tower Madness (tower defense game, shame about this one as I really enjoy it)

I am a bit sad...I expected a revamp of itunes including how it looks and feels as part of the 10 year thing. Even IOS 11 is same old.
