I am unable to get Bluetooth to locate other devices, have tried all suggestions I can find on the web.
I am unable to send or receive a photo attached to a network text message, have tried all suggestions I can find on the web.
Does anyone have advice?
I am a new iPhone user and thought I was buying a quality product that worked.
Thanks,
Ken

What were all the suggestions you tried?

Did it work ok before you updated to iOS 11?

you may have MMS (picture) messaging turned off?

try

Enable or Disable MMS Messaging

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Scroll down to and tap Messages.
  3. Scroll down, then to enable, drag the MMS Messaging switch to ON.
  4. To disable, drag the MMS Messaging switch to OFF

not sure on your bluetooth issue, but i have found i often need to be in the bluetooth menu for the iPhone to actively 'search' for new devices to connect to (and of course the device needs to be in 'connection' mode too)

Pair your device with a Bluetooth accessory

  1. On your iOS device, tap Settings > Bluetooth. Stay on this screen until you complete the steps to pair your accessory.
  2. Place your accessory in discovery mode and wait for it to appear on your iOS device. ...
  3. Tap your accessory to pair.

Have you tried resetting the network settings?

Can you enlighten us as to what you are trying to connect to?  make sure you are working in the Bluetooth screen in the settings and that the device you are trying to connect to is on and working properly in connection/discovery mode. The device should show up in the devices list in the Bluetooth settings screen, select the device, and depending on the device there may be a pass-code needed.

check mms settings

You have.  Just sounds like you may have some settings to sort out.  No mobile phone will work out of the box without some set-up (assuming as in your heading that this is a brand new phone and already on iOS11).

Should also update to 11.0.1 if you haven't already.

The last resort is to do a factory reset and restore from a backup, as those issues could be software related.

Thankyou for all who offered help.
For the text message/photo attachments problem it would appear that VPN settings need investigating, so will pay a visit to Spark next time I am in town.
For Bluetooth, needs a bit more research, but after googling it seems that it is a common problem.
Thanks again
Ken

Only SE issue I've had was that bluetooth personal hotspot is very unreliable - disconnects after a minute or so.

To find out if software related do factory reset and do not restore backup. Then see if there's any issue

Can i ask how people on iPhone SE find their battery life after going to 11?

I find it very fast and responsive but the battery life is noticeably poorer.

I see my post here has disappeared. Apparently sarcastic humour is not permitted. That's a good reason to never subscribe.
