Steve Biddle signal - not sure why but wondered if Steve knows about Qi as he seems to know a lot about everything.

What sort of things should I be looking for if I would like to get a Qi charger for an iPhone 7 or 6S?

My understanding is that I will need a charging base and a transmitting pad to stick to the iPhone or whatever other device.

Like everything, I imagine Qi chargers are not all built the same? How import is the brand?

The reason I saw this brand/model was that I was looking at one of their phone stands. Any advice on this appreciated!

iPhone 7 and below do not support wireless charging.

You require an iPhone 8.

I just realised that the solution I was going for may involve drawing power to the charging pad from a source around 5W. Does this need to be 10W minimum to reliably charge given the charging characteristics of Qi is less efficient than wired?

I now see that Qi charging receivers for iPhone 7 and below are as little as $1 on eBay. How vital is the receiver in this equation (I'm guessing it is important but I'm not really sure how to ensure the best price/performance combo in this department)

From my experience with various wireless chargers on various devices, the thing that matters most is the power adapter and cable need to be capable of supplying the current, the quality of the base and charging coil adapter are of less importance.
