Hey guys

Just want to know, my ipad home button is now stuck can't even go back to the home screen anymore

It looks like it needs to go for a replacement for the home button, does anybody know how much does it cost for this repair/replacement

thanks

We had to replace the home button on one of ours as our teen had worn it out. We went to Cellcity in Wellington. They were the cheapest at the time. Check out their website as they have prices. It looks like they have gone up since we has ours done. They did it same day. They say $120 for your model. There are heaps of places that replace them - depending on where you are located of course.

Hi Elmoz
Thanks for the info, just wondering did they replace the home button or the whole screen?

Thanks

Based on the price above, it's almost the same cost as another secondhand iPad Mini.

I would use this workaround instead of repairing it, especially given its age.

Use the virtual button, which you can setup solely as the home button. With ios11 on the iPad, you now don’t need to use the home button at all except for Touch ID, although the mini is probably too old for that version. It is essentially an iPad 2 in a smaller case, which I have and it is very very slow to use, not to mention it wouldn’t be all that secure as it wouldn’t have gotten all the updates to vulnerabliies over the last few years, including the latest ones in the last few weeks.
