Anyone use RBDigital (for reading magazines) on an iPad?

Does it work well? Load new magazines automatically when you've subscribed, turn pages very quickly, etc?

I'm considering buying an iPad partly for this use, but there are some really bad reviews of the app on iTunes.

I use it on Android and read a number of magazines for free thanks to auckland libraries. Works reasonably well.

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

Thanks, but I really want to know how it works on iOS.

I too have used it with Android ok, but I really want a high-res 4:3 ratio tablet to give best visibility, and all the Android tablets with that ratio are a lot more than an iPad.

I use it regularly on an iPad. The reading experience is great (though ideally I'd rather have the larger iPad Pro for mags).

My problem with it is the downloading: I've got the app to automatically download any borrowed title, but this doesn't happen in practice. It's quite a frustrating experience, as each has to be downloaded one at a time. This didn't used to be a problem - perhaps back in the days when it was Zinio for Libraries.

But, yeah, it's yet another great library-provided service. Many libraries also provide Press Reader, which is both a website and app that gives access to an enormous range of newspapers and magazines - way bigger than RB Digital (from our library, anyway). The frustrating thing with Press Reader is I only get a 48 hour 'pass', so it requires logging back in through the library's website (can't do it via the app).
