Possible iphone 7
My grandson has just got a Samsung Galaxy S9 on contract from Spark!
I asked about his old iphone 7 and has said its worth about $300ish it the 32GB model. And I'm interesed in buying it the only problem it has a cracked screen and I would need to get it repaired, so I haven't looked at the cost but if it was $150 would say $450 afer it gets repaired is worth getting phone?
I have an LG G4 at the moment which suits my needs, but just curious about an iphone. As I bought a ipad 9.7" last year and I'm very impressed and it works well with my apple TV.
I was anti apple before but once you get used to their system its not all bad. And I don't want to get into a ios v android war! just curious about getting an iphone.

I'd say the phone is worth $450 to $550 in good condition. Maybe a little more.

about 3 months ago I advertised my Wife's iPhone 6S Plus (16GB) for $500 on a local facebook buy/sell page. It was sold and I had the cash within an hour.

I don't know what a screen repair is worth. but $150 sounds about right (make sure you are getting a genuine one, so that touch ID works etc.) $300 is reasonable for his phone in that case IMO.

The 32Gb variant retails new for $999, so $300 for a damaged one probably isn't too bad as long as the damage is limited to the display.

So it's a bit of a gamble but if actually just a screen crack, probably fine.

I honestly can't believe the number of people that regularly break their phones. I've never damaged one in 20 years of ownership. I'd never even put a case or screen protector on one until a year ago.

I've had him do about 5 broken iPhone screens. Currently he can do the iPhone 7 screen for $120.

The screens are not genuine Apple stock, but Grade A replacements, they look the same in that I'm unable to tell the difference in a blind side-by-side comparison.

My advise would be to NOT use a 3rd party repairer for the display.

Go to an Apple Authorised service provider.

Then you know it will have genuine Apple parts and the water resistance will be reinstated.

Also, after Apple replaces a display they run it through a calibration process.

If that calibration process fails for whatever reason, they provide you with a whole unit replacement at no extra cost.

Also if the Apple service centre finds other damage they will stop the repair and re-quote you for the new cost of the repairs.

You then have the option of declining the repair and you'll get the iPhone back as is, so you haven't paid for a screen replacement when the iPhone has other issues.

A 3rd party will most likely just go ahead and replace the display regardless of any other issues, since that's what you took it to them for. We see this often!

Yeah, people seem to automatically assume that impact damage never affects anything other than the display but in a serious impact you would have to consider that there could be other damage that isn't immediately visible.

I've never destroyed a display myself despite having owned iPhones for over eight years, but by law of averages I figure I will eventually!

Note that aftermarket/non-apple repair will most likely result in the colour to be kinda bad on the iPhone eg. too blue/yellow etc.

Especially since the 7 has a calibrated DCI-P3 display and each display need to be calibrated and set individually on each device due to manufacturing variance.

Also you will likely lose the water-resistance due to the crushable gaskets need to be replaces with new ones after each opening.

So yeah consider the cost of repair done at an actual apple place and put that against buying a non-broken one.
