Hi all,

So the likelihood of getting an iPhone seems more unlikely by the day, with all the stories I read - eg 5000 alocation - but I will still continue to seek help on the chance it could all be mere speculation.

So my initial question is the following:

Can someone please give me an indication of the difference between the 8gb and 16gb? When the size is given, are all the aplications that are already on the phone part of that or is that size extra? I'm just trying to work out which size is better. Of course the bigger is a good option but I'm not sure that I need it. I will certainly store music on it etc but mostly I will use it for phone purposes.

Fairly simple, 16gb is 8gb bigger. Both phones have the same applications. Like all devices that ues flash/hard drives you can't actually normally use the entire 8gb/16gb but I can't remember exactly how much it taken up by the system software.

You really want to decide on how much music/podcasts/videos you want to store on your phone. Is it going to be your main storage device for music or just for putting in a few albums to listen to on the way to work? Even 8gb will hold a lot of music so the extra space may not be required.

The other thing to think about is the apps that you will be able to purchase from the apple store. These will take up some space as well, although I've got no idea as to how much.

Availability will also be a big issue by the sound of it. If the price difference is $150 or less between the two models the 16gb will probably be preffered by most purchasers so unless you start queing early you may not have much choice.

Having had an 8GB model for several months now I can safely say it's a better option to go for the maximum storage you can afford. If that's 16GB then do it. That said, if you're only using the iPod on your iPhone to play playlists and podcasts then you should be fine with 8GB as you'll most likely be changing your music every other day.

Depends on how much music and video files you have. I have had an 8GB ipod touch for some time and it has been fine. I just flip movies on and off as needed and its plenty big enough for my music collection.

OK so I wanted to check about size again after the latest email from Voda. So thinking size wise, I do not have or feel the need to have huge amounts of songs on my iPhone (kind of 250 max) and only a few of these are video. So with that in mind and based on the fact that the phone usage will be a big factor, would the 8 gb be sufficient? I know it is a difficult thing to advise but if anyone is able to advise further about other factors I should consider when deciding which size is best, please do so.
