Ok, I am looking at splurging and getting the AppleTV 4 as i want to watch the freeview Ondemand stuff in addition to prime & netflix, just the base model as i don't have 4k capable anything and by the time I do they'll probably be up to appleTV 50

So i was wondering, does it have the new freeview ondemand app and if not do the TVNZ and TV3 Ondemand apps still work on it?

I am not interested in streaming (airplay) to it from a phone as i have tried that currently (with an ATV4) and it seems a bit fiddly when it suddenly disconnects i can never seem to get it to play from the right same spot

Pricewise the base model is sitting at about $240 (at all retailers that i have actually heard of), theres not something patently obvious i am missing there is there.

I haven’t seen a Freeview+ app for AppleTV for NZ, but TVNZ and TV3 do have apps that livestream from within their app.

Not yet elegant as a solution though.

Are you airplaying to an ATV4 or 3? If you've got a 4 there already, just install the TV3 and TVNZ apps and see what you think.

If not, both those apps work pretty well. IMO, TVNZ's is more polished, and better picture quality than TV3.

They pop up with quite varying prices on TradeMe, so could be worth having a look there too.

I managed to pick up a brand new, still sealed, Apple TV 4 on Facebook marketplace, for $150.

Apparantly one of the ISPs is/was giving a free one when you signed up and this person didn't want it.

Saw a few of them for sale with same story around the same time.

FYI just did a search out of interest and came across this on Trade Me Apple TV 4th generation 32GB for $150. Closes this Sunday.

Do you mean Amazon Prime, or Prime TV?

Prime TV do not have an OnDemand app on the AppleTV. Amazon Prime does, as does Netflix, Lightbox, Sky FanPass.

I'm not sure if Freeview OnDemand is ever coming to a device without a tuner/antenna connection. No-one has said anything about this.

Yep I'm after the ATV4, I already have an ATV3 which is brilliant but it unfortunately doesn't do the ondemand like the ATV4 can
