Has anyone here purchased the NextPVR Apple TV app?

Been using the DVBLogic software on the HTPC and app on the Apple TV but it is really bad.

Crashes all the time and not very user friendly.

Have waited and waited for fixes that don't seem to be coming so looking at other options.

Saw that someone has made a NextPVR Apple TV client but it costs $9.99, so before I buy I would like to get some opinions on it.

I use the Android version.

@Sub (who maintains NextPVR) tends to pop up in here fairly regularly.

I've used it, I don't remember any problems with it.  But I've probably only run it for a night.

Written by sub (nextpvr creator/developer/genius) so I would say its a safe bet.  End of the day, its only $10.

Odd to get a thread with me mentioned so many times laughing

I'm probably biased, but...

It's a new app, only released a few weeks ago. It provides a fairly basic set of features, since I was going for 'easy to use', rather than 'bells and whistles', and it works pretty well. It's a paid app to help me fund the tools/devices I needed to purchase to create it (and there will probably only ever be a few hundred users of it, so couldn't make it much cheaper).

You can see a brief walk through of one of the pre-release builds at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rzji-MuXvt8

I'm open to feature suggestions.

Cool I'll buy it and give it a go. :)

Need to get NextPVR setup on the server first.

Anything special needed on that side for the app?

Yeah set it up on your server first, to make sure you happy with it there, before you go purchase the app.

If you have any difficulties setting it up, let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.

Well that’s all gonna have to wait, server is dead! :(
Looks like it needs a new PSU so I’ll have to take it to work tomorrow.

OK so server rebuilt and NextPVR installed.

Tuner card configured and channels setup along with EPG.

Downloaded and installed the LAV decoder but can't get any channels to actually play.

Just get a quick 'Please wait' message pop up then it goes back to the EPG.

What am I missing?

Edit: This is Freeview Satellite I'm trying to get working.

Is the tuner actually configured correctly? It would seem it's probably not able to access it.

I'm not sure there is even a point bothering with DVB-S these days if you have a good internet connection. Why not just use the IPTV feeds which are higher quality?

Yea rural adsl so not the best internet here.

It got the channels doing the scan and the epg is populated so surely that means the tuners are configured and working correctly?
It’s a TBS quad dvb-s2 tuner pcie card.

Not sure if this https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?59425-Codecs-and-Creators-update

might be remotely useful. Sounds similarish, and I got it working but never remembered to post what I finally did and can't remember now, but anyway...

Cheers I think I read that thread already.
I have tried the LAV deciders as well as ffdshow but same result.
Live tv doesn’t work at all, as in no audio or video.
I just tried the iptv setup with nz channels and they don’t work either.
Does the same thing where you briefly see a please wait message then it just goes back to the guide.

What OS are you running? Their is no need for the LAV decoder now under Windows 10 unless you purposely want to run them.
