I have the 16GB iPod Touch and I purchased the original update which included the Mail apps etc.

I am selling my iPod to a friend as I got the iPhone and I pressed the "RESET" button in the iPod settings menu.

It never mentioned it would delete the software.

I was mistaken and now I am back to the old software with no idea how to get it back.

I have plugged the iPod into iTunes and it asked if I wanted to restore the settings, which I did and it Brought back my Web Apps on the home screen but there is no mail apps or any of the new software upgrade features.

The first time I restored I saw the message about how to change around the home screen by holding down a icon until it wiggles - which is only avaliable in the Jan update not the original software - but that only flashed on the screen for a second and now the software is back to the old one.

Sorry for the essay but any ideas or help??

Have you tried to Restore in iTunes?

If you haven't wiped your computer, the update package should still be in your computer and it will be loaded when a restore is actioned.

I've had this done before - I was hoping that the Jan update will somehow load, when my iPod completely crashed.

YeahI have done a Restore in iTunes and it did not do anything

When the restore had finished the Web Apps are on the home page but nothing else indicating the new software.

Itunes says I have software 1.1.5

Are you sure about the details about the software?

1.1.5 is the latest... though it's confusing.

The update XML file says it's the latest. But I'm running 2.0.

So, you're actually running the latest version, as 1.1.5 is the latest listed one.

I'll look further into this.

EDIT: Well, 2.0 is there... so... I'll reply with some info later on for this.

If you have paid and downloaded the iPod touch 2.0 update, try this:

1. Go to ~/Library/iTunes/ and go into the folder for the iPod touch firmware updates. Note this path.

2. Go into iTunes 7.7 (make sure of this)

3. Hold Option while clicking on Check for Update.

4. Choose the ipsw 2.0 firmware file.

See how it goes.

I will still try that.

I see. If the update was installed it should have said (with Software Update) at the end of 1.1.5.

I'm not sure exactly what will happen, but I think you will need to try using the Restore button to downgrade.

... and by the way, I also paid $28 for the update. That was heart-breaking.

the latest iPod Touch was 1.1.4, I know this because I constantly check for the update. And I've upgraded to 2.0.

AFAIK there is no 1.1.5

AFAIK there is no 1.1.5

That's what I thought at first, but the Apple phobos XML file says otherwise.

I reset my ipod touch to sell (which I did) but I forgot to add the apps update on to it before posting it.

After spending ages searching the website to pay for it again, the buyer rang itunes who said they had removed the $30 update from the store because they were expecting issues with the iphone and wanted to focus on that.

I appreciate this doesnt help with getting it loaded if youve just reset your itouch but it explains as to why you may not find it on the store at the moment.

It may also be that 2.0 includes features in the January Update at half the cost.
