I note that Apple Pay is now supported by Westpac NZ - just set this up on iPhone and watch and all good.

I guess my annoying badgering them about giving us access to our own funds with a service that is more secure finally paid off.

I doubt I made any difference.

Just added mine and it's active - HOORAY!

I also set it up yesterday and have used it a couple of times, but frankly I don't really see the appeal since it's slower than just using a card (I typically just hold my whole wallet in front of the reader). Having to enter my PIN* for transactions less than $80 took me by surprise; admittedly it's more secure but Paywave has conditioned me to expect instant results.

*I'm aware that you can bypass this by using a fingerprint but it's frustratingly unreliable with my fingers.

Yep, great to have Apple Pay with Westpac, and about time. Using the iPhone XR and FaceID is quick, which saves me all of 5-10 seconds not having to take my card out/in of the phone case/wallet:-)

Might have to invest in the Apple watch now.

Apple Pay with the Watch is a bit fiddly, but great for those times you leave your iPhone on the desk and NEED a snack from the vending machine...

I couldn’t disagree more, Apple Pay with the watch is a lot easier, double tap the button and it’s good to go.

Also with the watch don't need pin or finger print, even when transaction over $80, plus don't have to pull anything out of pocket, I find it great.

I have my Westpac PayTag stuck to my phone, I'm guessing if I switch to Apple Pay I can remove PayTag and use Apple Pay everywhere PayTag worked. Is this correct?

I disabled Apple Pay because it kept popping up when I tried to scan my boarding pass for flights and AirNZ lounge. I couldn't find a way to stop that happening.

Good tip about Apple Watch. I might have to give that a go.

Correct - and don't forget to cancel your Paytag or you'll get charged for a new one when it gets renewed.
