$5.29, is that in NZ dollar? I have iPod Touch so it doesn't justify the spending of that money to get weather updates though... I'm using the built-in Weather app.

Built-in weather app is ridiculously inaccurate.

I've installed the WeatherNZ app, however it doesn't work!

I've added a couple of cities to the 'Urban Areas' tab and they all come back simply displaying 'Problem with area 'XXXXX'' etc.

Also the 'Charts' tabs isn't displaying anything either.

The 'Tides' tab IS displaying what appears to be the right data (as per the MetService website) but it doesn't seem to be displaying the correct sunrise/sunset times...

It's a shame as I was really looking forward to this app :) Hopefully updates to fix these issues aren't too far off

And you plonked $5.29 for something that's not working?!

Wish there is a trial period to try out iPhone/Touch apps first. I think many apps are lack of quality or would hassle a guess on how useful it will be. Not worth the risk of lossing small amount of money for it...

I would suggest contacting the developers at http://www.orsome.co.nz/ if you are having issues.

Let us know how you get on.

I was looking at their site... they have "tvGuides"... I wonder how they get hold of the EPG data for Sky programmes? I thought Sky TV would be very tight with sharing/using their EPG data?

Might explain the 2 day limitation on info.  Not sure how it operates here in NZ, but recall in Aus that Foxtel were not as worried on forward visibility of their programming and would issue the monthly programme in magazine.  However the free to air channels were highly competitive and was nearly impossible to get more than an 8day view, probably as they were still competing/programming and having flexibility to change programming at last minute to play trump card when the competitor network came out with premier or exclusive, while holding cards close to chest.

edit:back on topic...
Hopefully the video reviews will come available soon
Without trials for Apps it makes it to get a full background on app before purchase, even when dev posts great series of images, however the video review is fantastic marketing tool (or a video demo on the dev site)

Message from Orsome Software:
A couple people have had that error loading forecast information the first time. When the data gets 3 hours old it tries again and that fixed the problem for them. Another user suspects he has firewall issues, which my app might not handle so elegantly either. There is a known issue if you use this app in a different timezone, and I dont have yesterdays data kept on the server, and the program assumes the current day is the current day in NZ.

Currently the sunrise/set time is a single figure for each day, so should only be regarded as a guide right now. I probably shouldn't have put in the labels for that as it was initially just to show day/night in the background. However, since submitting this app to the store, I have the proper data from LINZ for this for every primary port, so will have that shown in the 1.1 update too.

I've had a load of happy eMails come in too, so its only affecting a few. I hope you don't feel like Beta testers.... but sadly, it is hard to do a widespread test with the way the SDK distribution model is setup. Maybe that is a cop-out, but be assured, the next rev will be better still.

Thanks Peter - it appears that it was the old server data issue for me too. I've just used it again now and it has updated and is working as it should be :)

Only problem still remaining is that the 'Charts' button displays nothing but a blank (black) screen...

The chart empty thing will be for the same reason, except for that image, it only forces an update every 6 hours. I'll make sure that in v1.1 if it fails to get fresh data, it doesn't go waiting for the data to age before trying again. Sorry for the inconvenience, but a fix is in hand.
