I have an iPad Air 2 and I am toying with the idea of loading iPadOS beta on it. I know it’s about a month until the public release but am interested to hear how GZers that have installed the betas are finding them to use.
My iPad isn’t ‘mission critical’ but I would like something more useful than a paperweight. I mainly use my for email, YouTube, web surfing and Netflix. So would be interested to hear how these functions are working.

I have it on a 2018 iPad Pro and all the apps you mention work fine. Dark mode is pretty cool.

2018 Ipad Pro 12.9 here and using the public beta, everything works fine.  I like the dark mode as well.

All working fine for me here too. In terms of local apps, there were some issues with the Trade Me app on the initial betas but all seems to be fine now.

My only gripe is that the Mail app is currently 99% useless - the 1% is for the fact that it still renders HTML emails far better than any other email app but it’s like pulling teeth getting the inbox to update with new emails (or sending them too). I’m assuming it’ll be fixed on the next beta but it’s been like that since the first one. I’m having to slum it in the Gmail app in the meantime, which is lightning fast but has a strange HTML rendering engine (and no web fonts).

I have the odd app crash or game currently not working on my iPad pro.

Biggest annoyance for me is the erratic functioning of the "open in new tab" long press in Safari. Sometimes it just stops working for a while which is really irritating...

Running the iPadOS Beta on my 9.7" iPad Pro and it's pretty stable.

I'm also running the iOS13 Beta on my iPhone and again it's pretty stable.

They're both my primary devices and I don't have any real issues on either one of them

I have it on my 2018 iPad 10.5 pro and it is great. Mail works perfect 100% of the time for me. I use the iPad daily in a business environment. Have you tried dropping back to ios12 and then reloading ios13?

Have it installed on my iPhone X and IPad Pro 9.7. Nothing too frustrating despite it being in beta.
As noted above, the open in the new tab for safari is buggy as hell.
Integrated swipe keyboard is nice on the iPhone.

Running the current beta on my iPad Pro 11”, and it’s pretty stable on all the things the OP wants to run. There are rough bits and pieces, but no deal breakers. Very nice to be able plug my Canon EOS R into the iPad and see the image card content. Now waiting for Lightroom to update so that I can start using an image workflow that doesn’t go through the Photos app.

Pulled the trigger on the update. Thanks for the feedback that gave me the confidence to give it a go.

Haven't seen any showstoppers yet, although as you can see in my original post, I'm not exactly a power user.

I admit I was expecting a full wipe with the beta installation but was pleasantly surprised that everything was intact (have an archived backup of 12.4 before beginning). The only glitch I had was being unable to access the app store but a reboot and logging in again fixed that.

I am liking dark mode.

So the latest Beta seems to fix the shonky "open in new tab" but I am now getting a lot of random app crashes...

It has been one of the more wobbly public betas I have done!

I am running the beta on a pro 2018. Notice it is quite buggy still, and the app launcher bar has a random stuck icon I can't get rid of. It wasn't me to upgrade to ios 13.1, but as I don't think apple will be releasing ipad os 13 , as ios 13.1, it maybe more difficult to download the final release after deleting the beta profile. I don't recall apple release a 0.1 beta of the os like that before. But ipad os is a big improvement, mainly because of dark mode. The multi app window isn't much better than before and I don't find it as intuitive as I did with windows in tablet mode. It is still many generations from being a computer replacement for productivity IMO.

13.1 is a "real" version. The release notes are here.
