My wife and I are going to announce our pregnancy to our overseas family this weekend. We are going to do this over FB Messenger and want to record the call. I know how to screen record with sound, but when I make a FB Messenger call it doesn't record sound (obviously some security feature).

Does anyone know a work around so we can record the audio and video of the call?

We are working with iPhone 6 with the most recent iOS. We also have Apple TV if there is a work around using this.

Thanks in advance!

Audio recording in chat apps is disabled in iOS native screen recording. You'd need to use an app that supports call recording natively in the app, like Teams. Or do the call from a Mac or PC and use a separate recording tool.

I recommend doing it from a PC and just using OBS (https://obsproject.com/) to screen record. Give it a test first and go from there.

On iPhone it is mostly impossible for like you say - security reasons.
