So with the release of the new Iphones, dont you think the pricing just went to another new level?
I didnt expect the pricing to be this high. Anyway us being us we will just end up buying the new one.
What are you guys eyeing to buy?

It is the weak NZ dollar and exchange rate, as the iphone 11 actually went down in price in the US. If they didn't keep lowering the OCR, and we didn't want cheap credit to buy overpriced houses, and wanting the house prices to continue to rise so that we feel rich, the NZ dollar would likely be stronger. I personally went note 9 this year for $650 when on special, but also purchased a cheap $150 iphone SE second hand for my apple watch as it still supports ios13 and still works well. Also there is another thread on the iphone 11

corksta: Entry level iPhone 11 dropped by $50 compared to iPhone XR last year, iPhone 11 Pro Max increased by $50 compared to iPhone XS Max so I wouldn’t say it’s gome to a whole new level, but still very expensive overall.
They dropped by more in the US. But we didn't enjoy that amount of a price drop here in NZ due to the weak nz dollar. If the phone can last 3-5 years, and supported with ios for all that time, then I think the price isn't bad. The cost per day is less than $1.50. But the batteries don't last that long as they are a consumable, and it is a hassle and pricey to get them replaced in NZ.
I think apple has shot itself in the foot again with the pricing. For an iphone 11 pro with 256GB you're looking at 2,249 (went with 256 as 64 is just not enough these days).
Throw in a apple watch at 779 you are over 3k.
I can understand why people jump to samsung when at note 10+ is 1899 and you get a lot of extras with them these days (wireless chargers, headphones etc). Add a samsung watch (galaxy active at 349) = 2250.
Wait a few months and you could end up getting a few watch with the note 10+
They need to re-set their pricing if they want to get market share back. price increasing like it this is really starting to hurt people
You are getting a lot more features for your money though than older iphone models, and the features just work well. The iphone 11 is seen as their main stream phone that most people will buy, which is cheaper this year.
It was pretty clear since the X that the top spec iPhones will stick around that price, hence the marketing shift to make the XR successor the mainline 11.
Makes sense since I saw a LOT of XRs last year both in NZ and in my travels. No doubt most will flock to the 11 as I can see a sudden rise of people selling their XRs in the marketplace already 😂
