Ok, so I'm about to get 'upgraded' to an I-phone 6... it's my Xmas present from my wife.... but at the moment I have an old 4s and have a couple of problems

starting 2 weeks ago I am now getting notifications from NZ Herald on my phone - they are damn annoying and I can't seem to turn them off. I've got the app on my phone (never use it). I've gone into settings, but can't see a list of all the apps on my phone anywhere so I can remove or disable it - can anyone help?

also it is my understanding that apple are no longer doing any updates for I-phone 4 or earlier..... yet everyday I keep getting a notification that a new software update is available and it asks me to install it tonight or 'remind me later'..... if I install this update will it stuff the phone up? or is there a way to turn off the daily notification of the update?

thanks in advance

try doing the update, it sounds like your software is out of date and an update is available, its unlikely to stuff anything up

If you don't use the app, delete it, or turn off notifications in Settings, Notifications, NZ Herald

The recent iOS update for the older iPhone 4s & 5 are to fix the GPS issue.

You should update it if you can, but it may not work now since the cut off date has passed.
I think the only other way to update it would be to connect it to a computer and use iTunes.

To delete an app, you don't go in to the settings. Just rest your finger on the app for a second or 2 and all the icons will start to wobble. Press the X on any app you want to delete, then press the home button to finish.

great thanks - there's heaps of apps I don't want.... wife has a 6s and has all the apps on her phone, so I think every time I sync my 4s to iTunes it is putting all her apps on my phone too?

if I delete the apps I don't want off my phone - will they delete off her phone? (I don't want angry / upset wife)

Prob best bet is to factory reset the 4S, and set it up under your own iTunes account.

Then no worries about potentially conflicting with wifes.

They shouldn't. There is a setting in the app store that does the opposite though, which may be why you ended up with a bunch of apps you don't want. That setting will automatically download new apps that you install on one device on to all others on the same account.
