This afternoon whilst working in my back yard, my iPhone 11 made several random calls all on its own. The phone was sitting on top of a wheelie bin approx 10 metres away from where I was working. I didn't have any music playing nor did I speak during this time, so it could not have mistaken anything for "Hey Siri". It only dialled people from my Favourites list.

I have done a Google search and it only seems to be people having this issue when it is in the pocket, which may or may not be related to my issue.

Anybody else had this problem?

Any RFID tags in your wheelie bin that may have triggered something?

Is there an active widget to access speed dial?

clinty: Smart Watch?

Yes, Apple Watch series 3. But it takes 2 presses of the crown and then 2 presses on the screen to activate a call. It could be that I guess but I would extremely surprised it could do the above presses and taps on its own.

Are you absolutely sure? I got rid of my Apple Watch because I got sick of the display reacting to phantom touches whenever it got moist - e.g. from condensation or wet sleeves.

Do you have any complications on your watch face that could possibly give direct or indirect access to the phone or contacts apps? What about the control panel thing that flips up from the bottom of the watch face?

No compilations on watch face, just time and day / date.
Nothing that I could see on the swipe up could do it.
I won’t wear my watch tomorrow and see if it still does it.
