While the missus was in the Jewellery store I dropped into Spark store and got them to change over my physical sim to an eSim. Got a text when in store to say your order will be activated within the hour. So back home and 3 hours later and I have no signal.

If I take the physical Sim out it say's no sim, Does a card always have to be in there ??.

Does it normally take this long for an eSim conversion as I would have no idea ??

The old turning it off and on again does not do anything.

Is there something I am missing or is it just a waiting game ??

Definitely missing both signal indicators and top left shows both providers on the lock screen

Yeah only using one provider, was going to use physical sim when we head overseas next year.

I would presume unless I had a different carrier's sim in it would only show just the one.

Id say looking at the signal indicator it still hasn’t been ported fully if you’ve lost signal

Hmm odd - SIM swap is usually instant between old and new - I assume both plans are on ? You should get 2x signal bars (with one showing no service), during the switchover, I assume you you’ve done the whole airplane mode thing as well ?

So got this sorted and to be honest I don't know the how or why.

In store I watched them scan the QR code and she asked me if I wanted it primary or secondary, I said primary so she set it and and said I was all good to go.

Got the txt to say would be activated within the hour and also received the email for setup instructions with what I would have presumed was the same QR code as in store.

Out of interest I followed the install instruction in the email and instantly everything was working, was showing the same number in both primary and secondary because I still had my sim in I guess. Removed the sim and it said that plan had been removed and was back to normal without the physical sim card.

The idea was to have the eSim then use the physical card slot for when are are overseas.

Not sure why when they did it in store it did not work.

Maybe it would have been better if it had not worked as soon as things were live again I was greeted with 8 txt's of missed phone calls lol.

On a side note how do you transfer the sim over to a new phone when I upgrade next year, I always do it directly through apple and not spark.

Glad to see it sorted itself out. Yep the UI is a bit weird when swapping between physical esim. At present the journey to swap ESIM over to new phone requires an in store visit, due to security reasons...
