Hi , I dropped my XR and now  have FaceID has issues.

Does anyone have any comment on the likelihood of this being fixable for a 'reasonable' price

Symptoms are - after a few minutes of getting the 'move higher' and 'move lower' message I have setup FaceID again. But I have never been able to get FaceID to recognise my face to unlock the phone. Even after keying the pin code a few times to give the phone some more practice.

Repeated this a few times now.

Thanks

Only Apple could answer this question, Do not get it fixed by some 3rd party company like in the malls

What sort of drop?
Is there any visible damage to the display or glass back?

Just do what all our Apple customers used to do and don't say anything about it being dropped and just take it in for the faulty FaceID.
Under two years old and Apple will cover it under consumer law unless they find damage inside the phone.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

It was only a metre on to lino, no visible damage. and its under 2 years old. I'll probably be honest with them and hope for the best

Depending on your excess/premium would contents insurance be an option? I know I'd rather spend $300 than the likely lots more

Take it in to an authorised service provider and see what they say.
