Hi team

For the last year, or so, my MBP battery is telling me it needs to be replaced - I've also noticed a decent decrease in the battery capacity, so go figure. Thing is, Apple say the battery can have 1000 cycles before replacement yet mine is only up to 487. Is it because it's now coming up to five years old (4 years old a year ago)?

Cheers

Age is a factor, so is using it constantly on charger. If it says it needs to be replaced, then it needs to be replaced.

The only problem with the MBPs is that the whole top case has to be replaced and the batteries are not user-replaceable.
It can be done but is dangerous removing the battery from the top case due to the adhesive used.

The upside of that is that you'll also get a brand new keyboard and trackpad.
