Work have given me an iPhone X. I've had it for 10 months and I've got issues charging it.

I'm not the only one. Got 4 colleagues, who all have got the same issue. One of them have decided to buy a wireless charger, to get around the issue.

I've cleaned the charging port, but the issue still persists.

When I connect it to my PC, it says: Allow this device to access photos and video? and it keeps disappearing and then coming back, no matter if I choose Allow or Don't Allow.

If I use a wall charger, it sort of works, but it's again very temperamental. I can hardly touch the phone, without it stopping charging.

What surprises me is that other colleagues have got the exact same issue.

I have an iPhone X and I charge it either wirelessly, via Apple wall adapters or via USB C out of my MacBook. No problems apparent.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Hi - the standard issues seem to be related to dirty lightning port (you've checked this but sometimes they can be hard to clean), faulty cable or poorly made off-brand wall charger.

WRT connecting to a computer it does seem that there has been some change made at some stage (possibly an iOS update) and I've found that using a powered USB hub helps to get a clean connection. Maybe this is also effecting wall adapters also - perhaps try a 2 amp charger instead of a 1 amp. I guess this could also be caused by ageing/dirty connector pins needing a bit more oomph *technical term*....?

Cheers,
Mike

Wireless charging is painfully slow. As above has put i'd put money on the fact there is crud in the lightning port still.

When you plug in a lightning cable, does it sit flush with the phone when its all the way in? If the port is clear you should get a definite click when its in.

If that's not the case try a phone fix type shop. I use needle nose tweezers to clear the port out, which i don't recommend as it can do more damage than it fixes, but as the lint gets so compacted in there that a toothpick just won't work.

OK, will talk to a phone shop and see if they can clean it.

It does connect, but disconnects shortly after.

Have not had any charging issues with my iPhone X and neither have the other two in our house.

And since I work on an account where the customer has over 11k of iPhone X's this has not been raised as an issue to be checked with Apple.

Cheers

Fair enough.
Went into our head office today and the IT Manager said he’d been told by more staff that they had the same issue.
Judging by Google searches, I’m not the only one experiencing this issue.

Apologies but my memory has been a bit off this week. Our 3 devices and the client 11k devices are all iPhone XR. We have gotten into the habit of just calling them ‘tens’.
There have been the usual issues with charging but when we get them back they all seem to work, so more than likely a faulty or non-Apple accessory.
My wife and a couple of friends have the X and they’ve had no charging issues, but obviously the sample size is a lot smaller.
Once again, sorry for that
