I am about to do my own when the temp sensor kit arrives here from Macsales in the USA.
Its currently been sitting in Auckland for the last 7 days with airline processing.
However to answer you question I have been told Cyclone Computers may be an option
Temp sensor kit finally arrived from the USA (Mac ID 11,1, 27" late 2009 , i7)
Installed the SSD and it makes a MASSIVE difference.
Will drop an SSD into my Mac Mini this weekend

Bringing this thread back to life - can anyone who's done this recommend any particular SSD - I'm new to the game and have done one (860 QVO) into a macbook, but now wonder if that was a good decision.
I note samsung and intel don't seem to have diagnostic software for os x, only windows and linux....
Is there any SSDs you'd recommend / stay clear of given the effort to upgrade it? (think I'm going to try to replace the i5 with i7, and possibly add the esata cable/port while I'm in there)
Check your Mac model at somewhere like iFixtIt.com. Many Mac models, especially laptops, cannot actually be upgraded because the CPUs, RAM, graphic card/chip, and even SSD are soldered to the circuit board ... unless of course you're a wiz with an electronics soldering iron. Even the ones that can be upgraded are often fiddly to do - the only real exception being the 27" iMac (not iMac Pro) which still has a trapdoor on the back to upgrade the RAM.
Well pleased to say this all worked.
Cloned drive with carbon copy cloner into a crucial mx500 1TB attached to usb
Opened it up and spent a few careful hours getting the motherboard out.
Swapping cpu was easy in the end, no tricks.
Reinstalled all parts and booted right away.
Apparently should have taken this opportunity to upgrade graphics card while in there. Maybe next time.
Photos of the process for anyone interested.
[Item - this is the iMac I bought off you last year]
Tricky work - glad it turned on again after!
Nice to see these old devices soldiering on with some new guts. In computer years, it is positively ancient!
Missus has a 2010 27" IMAC that used to work perfectly, but now has the dreaded Graphics card issue. Been meaning to take a stab at it myself and bake the existing card so i can get it back into action. A "new" replacement card seems to be no go as people charge an arm and a leg for them. Looks like quite a mission to get to it anyway so it sits on the floor where its been for the last 8 months. How something so small could cripple the entire system...oh if it was a windows PC in a desktop case.

If you google for imac 2011 GPU replacement you'll get a very good thread on a mac rumours site (not sure if we're allowed to post links to other sites here) - there's some good info (the first post) on better replacement cards (baking doesn't work long term - did it with a 2011 macbook pro and it gave about 6 months more use before it went futz again (this was before the apple recall/replacment).

Thanks for that. I will check it out.
