Only noticed this because it was pointed out on mac rumors, But our C8 OLED tv had an update earier in the week and we now have Apple TV+ app.
Not that I would use it as we have an apple tv box but at least they updated the tv.

I don’t know whether my response is more appropriate here or in the “Small Things That Really Annoy You” thread.
I bought an AppleTV4K about a month ago because my W8 wasn’t getting the AppleTV App. I checked just before purchasing it and the TV didn’t have, and wasn’t slated to get it, yet now there it is in all its glory.
Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks, I’ll have look later. I only use my AppleTV for the movies, so if it’ll work for those I may be able to unplug my AppleTV, until the day the applications stop working on LG TV. Think it’s 2018 TV so all current applics work on it.

I noticed a few days ago that our C8 had been updated to WebOS 05.20.02. Wondered whether this was the advent of the ATV app originally announced to be due in Oct 2020. Checked and the ATV app wasn’t there. Saw your post at 8.55 pm tonight, checked TV again - and there was a notification timed five minutes earlier at 8:50 pm, saying app was available. Downloaded and logged in.
We use our ATV box mainly for watching BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub - but I’m a bit anti-ATV due to the rubbish remote that comes with it (so I use the ATV remote app that’s in iPhone Control Centre). Now, when we want to watch ATV+ itself, I’ll use the LG app because I can control the ATV app using the LG TV remote.
Our LG C9 received the ATV+ app earlier in the year. At the same time, the C9 got AirPlay 2 capability but that doesn’t seem to be the case with the C8 yet.
EDIT: Just found this - many other sites making similar comments - AirPlay likely still coming to C8 by Oct:

Since updating LG TV I keep losing internet connection, 5Ghz.
On settings it’s shows as still connected to router, but DNS and internet have cross’s next to them on advanced settings. DNS is set to router.
I’ve only tried using Apple TV plus applic, gets about 10 minutes into movie and then connection is lost.
Turning TV off and on again restores connection. When connection lost other devices can still access fine.
I’ll try watching Netflix and see if can get through a program, had no problems before update.
Hope update hasn’t borked wifi on TV.
Update: Netflix 4K running fine on wifi. Looks like the Apple TV applic causes internet to crash on the TV for some reason. Doesn’t suit to run a cable so guess it’s back to Apple TV.
Nope, just lost internet on Netflix now, just took longer.
Trying reset all settings and I’ll install applics from scratch.
TV update has screwed my internet on TV.

Is that a C8 (i.e. only about two years old)? If you can’t get it sorted yourself, I’d ring LG NZ Support - I’ve had to contact them a couple of times about WiFi issues on our C8 and found them quite good to deal with. It was about 18 months ago and I forget exactly what the issue was - but they walked me through a fix which involved (IIRC) disconnecting mains power then a combination of button-pushes on the remote.

@rugrat The more I think about the problem we had (referred to in my post above) I’m sure it was the same as you are experiencing. Pretty sure you will get it sorted with LG’s help - or help here on GZ.
It’s likely that your problem wasn’t actually caused by the ATV+ app itself - which means your issue raised in this thread may not be seen by the widest GZ audience. You could consider starting a dedicated thread to get it out wider.

I’ve reset it up, 2 hours Netflix no problem, 31 minutes into Apple TV movie happened again.
Was going to see how long it goes without using Apple TV applic. Finished movie off on Apple TV device plugged into TV no problems.
Looks like TV only loses internet when under streaming load, I’ll give LG a call and see what they say if it happens again, which I suspect will.
Thanks.
LG got me to connect to mobile and hotspot, and then wanted to see if it still lost connection. They wanting to find out if ISP.
I told them that AppleTV in same room runs fine, and that it only seems to happen when on load, so doubt it would lose connection when not streaming through phone. Also I suspect it will hold on 2.4 GHz but that won’t be enjoying 4K at max quality.
Can’t go any further without receipt. Everything else is working fine, so not sure if want to lose TV for week plus over wifi issue, I’ll just have to watch 4K through Apple TV.
I’ll test my theory that 2.4 GHz is fine for things like YouTube, if that drops I’ll see if can get receipt off retailer or find it and pursue it further.
I decided to watch Deadpool 2, which I purchased on iTunes a while ago.
The AppleTV+ app on my TV did not give the option to watch the director’s cut (+ deleted scenes etc) that are available when viewing via my AppleTV4K. Is that a limitation of ATV+? Or am I doing it wrong?
