Hi guys,
Although I love my iPhone dearly- I am losing faith in the phone side of things.
Example:
when on a call the screen goes blank. I am aware of the power saving aspect function of this but the problem is if you get another call or need to use the keypad to select an option etc, the screen often remains blank no matter what button is pressed! Often I can not even revive the screen after a call ends for up to 10-20 seconds! I love it as a portable computer/entertainment device but almost feel like carrying a good old fashioned phone with buttons around!
Anyone else have similar problems?
Cheers.

The screen goes blank (and disables the buttons) when the phone detects it is up to your ear so that you don't inadvertantly press the buttons on the screen with your ear on the call.

When you take it from your ear, the screen should reappear after a couple of seconds, whether you are on a call or not.

Have you got a case on the phone that obscures the light sensor/IR beam to the left of the speaker?  If you do, then it won't work.

Hi Jon, Thanks for the suggestion. I do have a case cover. The problem is intermittent so not sure what's going on.Will try it without for a bit.

Hold the phone up to a strong light and check that you can see the 3 round dots to the left of the earpiece.

I had a case that was initially obscuring these and only after cutting the case to uncover these sensors would the phone work properly again re: disabling the screen.

Hi Jon, Seems to have done the trick. More of the case removed and now working as should.
Thanks!
