I'm gonna be a noob for life but managed to get connection to office Exchange server via VPN on cellular connection but when I got home and tried to connect via wifi (I live out of 3G area) I get a long wait and "Could not negotiate connection w remote PPP server" - which I thought looked like some kind of time out cos it might still be connecting via GPRS.  And can't see anywhere in VPN settings to use wifi connection.

But apple support says "VPN works over both Wi-Fi and cellular data network connections" (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1424)

So, anyone know do I use VPN over wifi?

NB: Saw this which looked ominous... http://saunderslog.com/2008/08/06/configuring-iphone-for-vpn/
It reads: "Now for the bad news.  Having done this [[getting VPN to work over cellular]] , you may find (as I have) that you’re no longer able to set up a VPN connection over WiFi."

I am in the same boat.  My ISP at home is Woosh and while I can happily connect using 3g I find that my home WIFI connection won't let me connect.  I went to my brothers house and tried his WIFI (hese's on XTRA) and it worked fine.  So in my instance it'sa my ISP that is at fault.

Thanks plas.  Finally making a call to VF (fixed b/band supplier) during support hours - watch this space..  ..25 mins later still on hold...  to be fair took them only 1 more minute to answer.  But after pointless conversation w s/one who knows even less than I do -  a serious feat - put through to VF Mobile pple answerphone on the basis that problem is with my phone.  I wonder if its some carrier setting I can't see.  Maybe VF Mobile pple know but will they tell me...?  keep watching and I try to find time to keep going.
