Am wondering, t'other half has a Nano 5th gen which has lasted quite a while, but the batteries going. So am wondering what to replace it with ? Could just get a new iPod Touch, 32GB should be enough as its just for music really. Main disadvantage I think is its significantly bigger, main advantage, its replacing another Apple product so should be painless to use and setup with iTunes and transferring music etc. Any other possibilities though ?

It's not Apple, but Fiio m5 perhaps? https://www.fiio.com/m5

I hadn't really looked at that, but did look at the M3 Pro. They look look quite tempting to me, but I have to keep telling myself it not for me, its for the missus. Now the missus is pretty decent with computers / electronics, but still don't want too much fiddling with devices possibly not being recognised, or fights just trying to transfer songs over, etc...

On the other hand either Fiio is half the price.

I sense some serious prevarication coming on...

I looked at Sony. The cheap stick things are a possibility, but the ones with proper screens are a ridiculous price. They used to have ones with screens similar to what they show for maybe $150 or so but they've disappeared unfortunately.
