Saw this a couple of weeks ago.
Hopefully the local iphone repair stores (you know the ones in the small shops or malls) will jump on and begin offering this in addition to replacement screens and batteries.
not sure about that - apple can easily update iOS and brick your phone. depending on how nasty they want to be. most likely iOS 15 when they have iPhone 13 to force you to get a newer one
Ugh I want it…. I’d love to ditch Spark but I am not going back to carrying two phones, and no one else has got their a into g regarding esim.
I do wonder if Apple are likely to pull the pin on this in software. Like the YouTuber said, they block/limit functionality of a bunch of other third party parts in software.

Dual sim is offered in mainland china so they won't brick it.
Also the other thing is you fully void your warranty by doing this. For most - not worth the risk.

one could reinstall the original sim module if sending in for warranty
The OS / logic board would surely know or be configured to ID this config. They'd also be able to track this by serial number too.

Geektastic: I use dual sim/esim in my 11 plus. The implementation isn’t great. You can’t even have different ring tones for the two numbers.
I'm curious...how do you know which number has been called - i.e. so you can answer the call appropriately.

You set a 'label' for each number (eg Work or Personal or whatever) and this shows up on the incoming call screen (as well as throughout iOS in relevant places).

Thanks. Have never used a dual SIM or eSIM (despite having eSIM capable hardware), so am keen to understand the end-user experience for if/when my carrier enables eSIM.
